Heart & Stroke 2012

Take Action Now. Together we can Make Death Wait. Odds are if you haven’t already been affected by heart disease and stroke, you will be. They are the #1 killer of women and take 1 in 3 Canadians before their time. You can help change these statistics. You can improve the lives of your parents, brothers, sisters, children and friends – and your own. February is Heart Month and 85,000 volunteers are hitting the streets to raise funds that will give Canadians longer, fuller lives. This is the first time I have canvased for something...

How cpap saved my life

After complaining of waking up tired for who knows how long and my wife telling me my snoring was getting louder and louder, I finally went for a sleep apnea test in September. In early November, they diagnosed me with severe sleep apnea where I stopped breathing 51 times an hour. My longest period without a breath was 64.5 seconds. I can’t even imagine that. I could never hold my breath that long if I tried to! For a normal healthy person with this level of apnea the chances of having a stroke increase by 4 times and your chances of having a...

Smokin’ Hot Woman

Shooting smoke is a pretty cool form of abstract photography. The smoke takes on a life of it’s own and each shot is completely different. This is not manipulated in Photoshop, it’s how it came out of the camera. I entered this shot into a photography contest and won 1st prize. Thanks to everyone for their support and any votes that you casted. The voting only made up a percentage of the outcome as it went through a few judging stages but I was pretty excited to have won. This is the first contest I have entered. Winner of the...

#1/100 – Yves

#1/100 Strangers – Yves This is Yves from North Bay. I met him today while I was out shooting on Lake Nipissing. He is a local resident who enjoys ice fishing. I was a little nervous starting this project as you never know how a stranger will react to someone coming up to them with a camera. He was super friendly and even offered his ice hut to warm up if I needed to. Thanks Yves for being my first stranger and a great experience. I hope you caught a big fish after I left 🙂 This picture is #001 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more...

Help Portrait 2011

I had a great day today shooting for Help-portrait with other local photographers. This is the first year I have been involved in it and it’s a great project to be able to give back to the community. I’m hoping that next year members of the photography club will step up early and help really get this organized and build it into a great yearly...

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1

My daughter really enjoys the Twilight series and I have gone to see them with her. The first 3 films were pretty good. This latest installment left me looking for more action. As a chick flick I guess it did what is was supposed to but from a guys point of view I was expecting more battles or action in the film. I have never read the books but this was my least favorite of the series to date.
